About the role
We are currently recruiting for Animal Care volunteers (Cattery & Kennels) to join our team at the RSPCA Portland Animal Care Centre. Successful candidates will provide day to day care for animals at the site providing enrichment and support to both animals and the team.
We also have a number of non-animal care volunteer roles available, which include: Maintenance & Gardening and Driver roles.
Successful volunteer applicants will be required to commit to a minimum of 6 months, and be available to work a rostered shift of a minimum 4 hours per fortnight.

Skills & experience required
Attention to detail and the ability to follow oral and written instructions carefully
General fitness, physical ability to be standing for extended periods and able to lift up to 10kg
Confidence in working with animals and experience in caring for animals (this can include animals you have cared for at home)
Ability to be self-sufficient and work autonomously
Ability to think on your feet and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preparedness to work in a noisy environment
Willingness to assist in extra cleaning duties during peak times, as per the Supervisor/Animal Attendants request

Animal Health and Behaviour Volunteer Orientation
On-the-job training with RSPCA staff
Ongoing support and learning with the Supervising Staff and/or Volunteer Support Officer.
