Care and rehabilitation volunteer role for vulnerable RSPCA Victoria animals in your own home
Burwood, Pearcedale and Epping locations
About the RSPCA
RSPCA Victoria is a non-government, community-based, not-for-profit organisation whose vision is 'ending cruelty to all animals'. We are Victoria's best-known and most respected animal welfare organisation.
Our organisation's purpose is to work with the community to achieve outstanding animal welfare through education, advocacy, and animal care and protection. RSPCA Victoria's values - clarity and accountability, respect and consideration, and expertise and collaboration - set clear expectations for all our staff and volunteers.
About the role
Foster Carers play an important care and rehabilitation role, providing the more vulnerable animals in the care of the RSPCA Victoria with a comfortable and enriching home environment to recover and grow.
Some animals that come into the care of the RSPCA Victoria are not able to be adopted into their new 'forever' homes straight away. They may be too young, unwell, recovering from surgery, or they may need training to improve their behaviour.
While our shelter staff and volunteers work very hard to provide a comfortable and enriching environment, many of our more vulnerable animals are stressed by the experience of being in a shelter. These animals recover and develop much more successfully when they are fostered in a home environment. Foster Carers are critical to support our animals to become ready for adoption and have the best chance at finding their forever home.
